It’s not as Bad as You Think!

It’s so hard when contemplated in advance, and so easy when you do it. –
Robert M. Persig
How many times have you put something off because you thought it was going to be difficult to accomplish it?
How many times have you finally done it only to find out it was easier than you thought?
Here are two acronyms for the word Fear.
False Evidence Appears Real and Future Event Already Real
Both speak to how our Fears are based on our thoughts about something that has not even happened.
It often is our fear—perceived difficulty—that keeps a particular item on our to-do list for longer than necessary.
When we moved, I had what appeared to be hundreds of boxes packed in my little office that needed to be unpacked and cleaned out. It was a daunting task, or so I thought.
I decided I couldn’t live without my office, and broke down the goal into bite-size pieces with the help of my coach.
I have 3 boxes left now. The pictures are hanging on my walls. I can actually work in there, and feel good!
The most valuable realization I got from this experience was that it wasn’t as bad as I thought.
What task have you been putting off? Can you break it down into smaller more manageable tasks?
Chances are it’s not as bad as you think!
